Good Deal Dude

Hey, very busy with theatre stuff and fighting a cold of some sort but still doing the best I can.  I have been encouraged by so many people from my article and know that I have a long journey ahead.

I will be scheduling my gym time now that I have gotten better control of some of eating habits and feel “lighter”.  I have lost a few pounds just from eating better so that is encouraging.

Now is the time to crank the furnace up a little.

Cheers!

Choices

As I sit and watch NCIS in the background I am reflecting on the start of the year.  It has taken me many years to realize that my path is a series of choices; some compulsive and some thought out.

I ate a nice homemade steak salad and knowing that there is a batch of sugar cookies on the counter I had that millisecond choice to decide on, “cookies: yes or no”.  I chose no and therefore I made a choice rather than a compulsive reaction.

As a parent I try to practice the mantra of “making good choices”.  It is a life long mantra regardless.

I am a pretty spontaneous person but that doesn’t mean I can’t make a slew of choices that are “good”.

There, that is my thought for today.

Cut me, Mick.

Well, for a theatre owner I am up pretty early.  I got up and did the whole “Rocky” theme in my head and have been getting myself all pumped up.

Yesterday I refrained from eating junk and drank more water than I have been.  I think it is definitely about eating right.

Today I will be getting signed up for the local gym.

I have friends who are absolute gym rats or run every day or both.  I am inspired but I need to keep in mind my own limitations and motivations right now.

I am clear-headed, I am awake, I am Rocky…Part VIII (it’s a start).

It’s a good sore…

Yesterday was exceptional.  We had an outstanding turnout for our show with EXiT 185 Improv Comedy at BlackBox Theatre.

I always have some soreness after a show, it is usually in my upper back and shoulders but last nights wasn’t as intense.

The challenge:  What would I order from Denny’s after the show?  Steak and eggs with wheat toast.  Not bad.

Also, I threw away the remaining pieces of apple pie on the counter.  I am stretching, and kicking, and lunging….. I am 48!

1 1 1 1 1….

Clear of mind I wake late, only because I was up late with friends for a New Year’s celebration.  It was a night of food, games, and fireworks.  Thinking occasionally last night that I had made a public declaration in my Pinal County Lifestyles article for January that this is the year I will win the battle of my bulge.

I have received great support and encouragement from many people already.

Grabbing my iPad I immediately went to Heidi Malano’s website (Heidifit.com) to start reading her 20 day challenge and determine on what level I can start to participate.

I stretched…..rolling my back and feeling the familiar pop.

It’s gonna be a great day.

I did some Sumo Jumps, 5!  Yes, 5 Sumo jumps from the jolly big man….Rested and then did some front leg kicks.  5 each leg.

Now I realize that is not much but it is a change in my behavior, even for one moment and at the first of the day.  Baby steps, right?

I also looked at the apple pie on the counter….Nope, no way, not today.

I received a nice surprise comment today on my personal blog from Kitty Wakfer who is a local resident that read my article and along with her husband are fitness enthusiast’s!

If you haven’t guessed, I am just writing from the hip but my commitment is to do this daily if at all possible. It should be doable, given internet access.

Tonight, my improv troupe EXiT 185 Improv Comedy performs at BlackBox Theatre (also my theatre with co-owner JJ Freyemuth).  I am committed to bringing everything I have to the show which can be physically demanding.

So, today I totally devote my life to my health, spirit, wife Michelle and to the art of improv, which I believe I owe my life to.

Make it a great day!

Bonus:  If you have read this far, thank you.  Come to the show tonight and mention “My Shiny Words” and receive 2 for 1 admission! Show starts at 7PM.

It Is Worth The Climb From Slime (via my shiny words)

Well, Now my partner and I have our own theatre space. BlackBox Theatre in Casa Grande. We have had some events already and have had great support along the way.

I just went back and saw this post. It seems long ago but I did have a ting of feeling like it is not that far removed.

I am no longer “in the cube”.

Here we go.

Man oh man, does this eat me up. I understand patience but I wonder how much I should have.  What is this about? Well, it’s about knowing there is something greater to life than sitting here looking through old leads, calling them now and again…ring….ring…ring.  Or better yet, “Please enjoy this music while your party is reached” only to hear the crappiest hick song in the world for 30 seconds until you get to a lame voicemail message that is rud … Read More
